Opening reception this Thursday, April 28th from 7:00pm-9:00pm in the Main Gallery at the International Museum of Art and Science in McAllen, Texas.
 
An Artist Panel Discussion will take place at 8:00pm during the opening reception.  Joseph Bravo and Tom Matthews (Co-Curators / Co-Jurors ) will make a few opening remarks and then allow each exhibiting artist 1-2 minutes to briefly talk about their exhibiting artwork.   The artist’s talks will be followed by a panel discussion.

Solo Exhibit "When Reason Rhymes" by Jessica Monroe August 13-27, 2010.  JULY 27, 2010 — McAllen, TX: 

ManicHaus, Modern Art Space, is proud to present a solo exhibition by painter, Jessica Monroe, on view at ManicHaus in McAllen, from August 13 through 27, 2010.  An opening reception will be held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, August 13, 2010. ManicHaus is located at 1301-B, North Main Street in McAllen.  Admission is free.

"In these paintings, I explore the relationship between the structural grid and the more fluid “characters” depicted in the image," Monroe said.  "The grid serves a dual purpose: On one level it connects elements of the image by creating a web or net in which all parts of the fluid forms reside.  The structure also gives the viewer something to grasp onto in an otherwise overwhelmingly nonstructural image.   In this way, the grid mirrors our own cultural need for structure though language, social hierarchies and networks, while the less defined movement of light and color represents those aspects of life both integral and indescribable.  "
